oh how i love fabric...

i'm a fabriholic. i really don't like that term. fabric-head? any other terms out there? how about you? raise your hand if you love your fabric. mm hmm, i knew it!

don't get me wrong. i don't have one of those crazy stashes, but i do have plenty. after tidying up my sewing space recently, i realized that i do not need to be buying anymore. and if i do, i need to absolutely love it (notice i gave myself an out?).

and do you know one of my favorite parts of my fabric stash? that's right! my scrapbox! i've been stuffing scraps in it here and there recently but haven't really dug around in there. i got it out today. boy does it get my creative quilting juices flowing! i was digging around for some fabric for the sept. mini quilt swap. the theme is owl and/or mushrooms. i found almost everything i need for the mini in my box.

scraps

i also found some vintage mushroom fabric

mushrooms

and strawberries (i'm lovin' strawberry fabric right now, especially the vintagey ones)

strawberry fabric

and i also found the last tiny bits of some favorites. are you ever sad when you get down to the last tiny bit of your favorite fabric and wished you had bought enough to last a lifetime?

the last bits

how about you? have any old favorites that you just love? come on! i know i'm not the only weirdo out here!

Fabric is an amazing thing isn't it! I have so much and I really don't buy much unless I need it for a specific project or it screams to me at the store (it has to scream, not just speak). But as I posted yesterday, I bought someone else's scraps at a garage sale and then, people give me their scraps because they are too small to use (to some that is 3 inches or so) or they just don't want to keep it? It is a sickness, that is for sure!

I loooooove fabric. I just told myself no more buying in September. I don't have a crazy stash, but I'm not wanting for fabric right now. Enjoy the last bits of your favs!

I'm a self diagnosed (with my husband backing me up) over the top, out of control, fabricholic. I don't mind calling it that! Although I think a good term for you would be scraphead, since you like that scrapbox so much!
I will not be buying more fabric for a LONG time now... I just need to spend some time organizing so I can actually see and USE what I have.

p.s. collaborative quilting has been GREAT with helping me use up my scraps! Love it!

One positive thing about the credit crunch is the stash is starting to get used up, but I'm a sucker for fabric bargains and have to be forcibly restrained!

I'll let you into a secret. Quilting Bebbs doesn't use scraps - she occasionally pulls handfuls out of her bin and sends them to me! I've got the urge for another crumbs quilt as the box is full to overflowing. I literally can't get any more in there!

Mmmmmm.... fabrics! Love fabrics! And I have come to love my scrapbasket too. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Oh, fabric is my love. While I do lust over freshly washed and folded stacks of color, I, too, go to the scrap box for the most inspiration. It's like I'm getting something for nothing and I find that very freeing. No expectations of having to create something wonderful because I paid 'x' amount for it. And yes, there are bits that I tend to hold on to, not wanting that last thread to be gone!

oh yes, i lovvvvve my fabric. is that wrong?? just looking at it in my cupboard makes me happy. i will have to go thru it and see which are my favorites, but one pops in my mind right away. it is an orange that i just love, and i wish i had more!!

I hate using up the last bit of a special or especially useful print. I'll make a block out of it just to keep for myself if I have to!

Another Fabric Addict checking in. I love touching it, laundering it, pressing it AND using it. Have you seen my new "fabric storage room"? Pictures are in the sewing room/studio set in my Flickr photostream..... I'm working on my new workroom now - pictures coming soon.

the best part about the yoyo bears I'm making my kids is that I get to use those little scraps of all my fav fabrics and then see them played with forever!

I HEART FABRIC!!!! (but I don't like the term fabriholic either.)

I need to go on a fabric buying ban again. I think my stash is the biggest it's been. (still not crazy, though.) I think some of my favorite pieces are in my scrap bucket, too. but then again, I love scrap quilt so much. and there is a great joy in making use of every last bit of fabric you have.

I feel the same way. I hold on to that little scrap for longer than I should. But more often then not, I am pleasantly surprised to find an old friend in my scrap bags that I had forgotten about but is just perfect for whatever project brought me to rummaging. I love free surprises!
