Doll Quilt Swap Sent!

Billy's hip replacement surgery was this past Wednesday, and everything went well. I brought him home on Saturday to rest and recuperate. He's doing really well, except he's having a lot of swelling. I appreciate your prayers and kindness so far, and I ask you to keep praying for his recovery.

On the craft front, I am wanting to start crocheting wash/dishcloths and nylon scrubbies. I picked up some peaches and cream yarn and two hooks (H and I) yesterday. I found a website of videos that teaches crochet, and a few people have recommended a few books. How about you? Have any tips or resources for a newbie? I want something portable for my soccer mom life this fall. Both kiddoes are doing soccer, and it is mainly up to me for it all since Billy wont be able for awhile.

And remember this quilt I made for Doll Quilt Swap 4?

My swap partner is craftyturtle. The swap mama in charge matched partners based on preferences, and my "partner" wanted wonky, so the mama thought I would be good for the job. Little did she know that craftyturtle and I have been friends since high school - 20 years! Funny huh? It was fun making the quilt and putting together a few goodies for her. The extra fun part was the delivery. I went down to see her folks recently and they were going to see craftyturtle soon after. So under the guise of sending her a book (Collaborative Quilting), I sent her swap package. tee hee! I love surprises. I love surprises so much that i try not to see movie trailers or read the backs of books. I even try not to tell my family what we are having for dinner sometimes. I can't help myself!

On the school front: we start next week! This summer flew by! This year is flying by! If time is passing this quickly now, when I'm an old lady, it will go by in the blink of an eye. Yikes!

Brilliant quilt! And yes, you are the Queen of Wonk.

I'm glad the hip replacement went well. Best wishes for a fast recovery.

I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well! And I hope he'll be up and about asap!
Crochet is fun, I'm not too good at it, mine is involuntarily wonky, so I'll not be giving out any advice. LOL!
Your quilt is so pretty!

loved this little quilt-matches my taste in style and color :-) and how fun to have the added surprise for your long time friend! healing wishes for your sweetie on a swift recovery.
I learned to crochet as a child-if you make a long chain to just get the hang of making loops and working with a hook and yarn it will help you feel more comfortable doing a project-that is what my grandma taught me.

I love this little quilt. One of these days I'm going to have a go at those wonky churn dash blocks myself!

My most favorite book is Crocheting in Plain English- great beginner book, great as a resource ten years later. Have fun!
