We love snoopy and peanuts around here. And I have sewn several snoopy items for my daughter and son. So when I decided to make a quilt for marguerite, I knew I wanted to make a snoopy quilt. I had been collecting peanuts fabrics for over a year, and I thought that I would make her a quilt for this past Christmas, but I ran out of time. So it was my first priority when the new year started. What about Zach you ask? Don't worry! His quilt is next. I didn't have all the fabrics I needed for his.
You may be wondering why I haven't made quilts before for my kids. Three reasons. The first is that my mother is a quilter too, and she had made them each two baby quilts and a big kid quilt. Second, I didn't feel ready to tackle such a large project. Polka Dot Estates was the largest quilt I had made. Third, it's Florida! How many quilts do we need? ; )
So onto the quilt. It is a simple brick pattern with the bricks finishing at 5" x 12". I wanted the blocks to be big enough to showcase the fabrics. I did horizontal rows of quilting on either side of each horizontal seam.
It's 60" x 80" to fit m's twin bed. I could have made it bigger, but....I didn't. ha!
I pieced the back. I pieced lazygal letters for her name. I had the hardest time with them! I don't know why. I wanted to use this cherry fabric from my stash, and Marguerite agreed. And I wanted to piece her name on the back to make it extra special.
I finished binding it last night after she was in bed. I ran it through the washer and dryer and put it on her while she slept. She woke up this morning and brought it out with her. And she loves it! And I love it. And I love her, so I am pleased as punch!

The quilt looks great!
She has a long name... I would never have made it to the end with the pieced letters. Of course. I have never done pieced letters.
I think they would drive me nervous.
very fun and great job on the name. congrats on the finish!
I love it!! Great job! And her name on the back is the icing on the cake! :)
I love it too! And I agree, the name on the back tops if of quite nicely. :)
How could she not love it? What a great way to surprise her. I love those brick quilts--I made a Christmas one a couple of years ago and think you've inspired me to make another.
What a sweet quilt! And I love that her name is on the back. I just love Tonya's pieced letters. I just started today making letters for my daughter's name for her eye spy quilt(inspiration from you from the naomi quilt). I just made an "L" this afternoon and am quite pleased.
any way great job
You should be pleased as punch! It's wonderful!! What a great collection of Snoopy fabrics!! I love the back--makes it so special! Ah, my kid doesn't have a bed-sized quilt on her bed... maybe this year...
That's a really cute quilt! That last photo reminded me of a dacshund that I had as a little girl that we named Snoopy - thansk for the memory!
I love all the snoopy fabric you found for the quilt. It turned out so cute; I'm sure it will be well loved.
It's lovely. Great fun and full of colour. My fav Charlie Brown character has always been Woodstock.
Fun quilt - but of course I'm partial to the back. you had a bunch of hard letters in there, so I can understand the difficulty. The more you do them, the easier it gets.
That is a beautiful quilt and such a neat idea to put her name across the back like that. I love it, and may just have to be inspired by you for my next grandchild quilt.
Snoopy always makes me want to smile :))
~~Fran...:c)
It's a great quilt! And just so perfect that she woke up under it. :)
it's cute as a button....i love that you put it on her as she slept!!
I love the Snoopy quilt so much.
oh, how sweet! we love snoopy and peanuts around here, too.
i LOVE the back! how special to put her name in the backing fabric. it's so very fabulous. your letters look wonderful!
I'm having a brick patchwork design on a little softie I'm making but after seeing your quilt I think I'm just going to steal your whole idea and use them on the quilt for my daughter that I've been meaning to start.
The name is a lovely touch too.
What a cute quilt!
Congratulations! It looks really fun, sort of I-spy-ish and it suits the bed just perfectly.
Just found your blog through flickr and love the snoopy quilt. I homeschooled up until this year, and I grew up with a dachshund!
Love the snoopy quilt. My daughter (that I'm making the snoopy quilt for) has 2 mini dachshunds. Just too cute.
